The Miami Dolphins released eight-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyreek Hill, the team announced Monday.
Moving on from Hill will save the Dolphins $22.8 million against the salary cap, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Hill, who turns 32 on March 1, is recovering from a serious knee injury that included a torn ACL. The star wideout’s timeline to return to the field isn’t clear.
The veteran thanked the Dolphins organization on Instagram and also promised to play again.
“The Cheetah don’t slow down,” Hill wrote. He added: “To everyone wondering what’s next … just wait on it. The Cheetah will be back … Born again.”
Hill immediately becomes a free agent and can sign with a new team.
Hill’s tenure in Miami started brilliantly with back-to-back seasons of over 1,700 yards. His 1,799 yards and 13 receiving touchdowns in 2023 led the NFL. However, as the Dolphins’ offense sputtered, so did Hill’s production. He recorded only 959 yards in 2024, though he battled a wrist injury throughout the campaign.
Hill had 265 yards and one touchdown through four games last season before sustaining a gruesome knee injury in Week 4.
The Dolphins are in the midst of cleaning out their roster. The franchise also released offensive lineman James Daniels and wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine. Veteran edge rusher Bradley Chubb is also reportedly being released.
Deciding on the future of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is likely next on the Dolphins’ agenda. The former top-five pick was benched late last season and said earlier in 2026 that he would be open to a change of scenery.
