Sterling K. Brown and Ernest Kingsley Jr. lead the cast of miniseries Washington Black.
Based on the book by Esi Edugyan, the series follows 11-year-old George Washington “Wash” Black who, after being forced to flee a Barbados sugar plantation, sets out on a globe-spanning adventure with the help of a strange flying machine.
“As he navigates uncharted lands and impossible odds, Wash finds the courage to imagine a future beyond the confines of the society he was born into,” a synopsis reads.
Other cast members include Tom Ellis, Iola Evans, Edward Bluemel, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Sharon Duncan-Brewster and Rupert Graves.
All eight episodes are available on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
Who composed the soundtrack for Washington Black?
The show’s soundtrack is by Cameron Moody, in his scoring debut on narrative TV. He has previously contributed music to various scores by Michael Abels, namely Star Wars: The Acolyte, Nope and The American Society Of Magical Negroes.
Speaking about the soundtrack, Moody said: “If I had to describe the score in one word, it would be ‘classic’. We wanted it to feel big and appropriate for the size of the story. This is really a story about freedom and the lengths a person will go to achieve that.”
