Adidas finally drops Kanye West

After mounting pressure, Adidas has followed the actions of brands like Balenciaga and terminated its relationship with problematic rapper Kanye West. The move comes after the mogul’s anti-Semitic remarks and continuous hate speech, among many other widely-documented controversies in recent weeks. “Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech,” the company said in a statement.  The statement confirmed that the sportswear giant will end production of all Yeeze products immediately. “Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness. After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. Adidas will stop the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect.” Business outlets report that the production end would result in a €250 million/$248 million hit to the brand. Adidas implied that more information on the decision will be revealed at its Q3 earnings announcement on November 9.
