Katy Perry loves a theme. Take, for example, her patriotic Inauguration Day outfit or the chandelier she wore to the camp-themed Met Gala, which was followed that same evening by a very detailed, sparkly cheeseburger. So while attending the 2022 NFL Honors on Feb. 10 in Los Angeles ahead of the Super Bowl, Perry dressed like a football, naturally. “Damn should I retire,” Perry wrote in her caption, most likely alluding to Tom Brady’s recent announcement.
Styled by Tatiana Waterford, the outfit consisted of a ruched Alex Perry chocolate-brown column dress with matching opera gloves, as well as Messika hoop earrings and a trendy two-stone ring not unlike Megan Fox’s engagement ring. Perry also carried a crystal Judith Leiber football clutch, the same one Ciara brought to the 2021 Met Gala, where she wore a sequined Dundas gown resembling her husband Russell Wilson’s Seattle Seahawks jersey.
Speaking of Ciara, the singer was also in attendance, wearing a black dress with a plunging neckline and high slit from Roberto Cavalli’s spring 2022 ready-to-wear collection. At the award presentation, Wilson received the Bart Starr Award, which honors NFL players who serve as positive role models for their teammates and communities.
