Macy’s Reveals A Former Employee Hid Expenses Totaling Up To $154 Million

Talk about a cash grab! Macy’s has shared that its third-quarter earnings report was delayed after finding a former employee had amassed between $132 million and $154 million in expenses, according to CBS News. The unnamed worker, who oversaw package delivery expenses, hid the accounting entries from late 2021 until Macy’s most recent financial period. Currently, the retailer is conducting an independent investigation on the matter, which overlaps with its preliminary third-quarter reports—which found net sales dropping by 2.4%. However, it expects to share full third-quarter results by December 11, following this week’s annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
