Old Navy Sleeveless PowerSoft Performance Dress Review

Over the last few months, I’ve noticed a trend on my TikTok FYP. I’ve been seeing tons of people wearing black athletic dresses and showcasing the many ways in which they can be styled. I recently started going on “hot girl walks” every day, and while I typically just wear leggings and a sports bra, after seeing so many cute athletic dresses on TikTok, I knew I had to get one. The one downside? All of the options I kept seeing online were way out of my price range.

Last month, I decided to put more effort into my search, and I finally found an affordable option just as cute as the expensive ones: the Old Navy Sleeveless PowerSoft Performance Racer-Back Mini Swing Dress ($45). As soon as I got it in the mail, I knew it was going to be a winner. The material was soft, the length was perfect, and it looked 10 times more expensive than it really was. For all the details on my favorite new dress and ideas on how to style it, keep reading.

What I Like About This Old Navy Dress

I’ve always loved dresses because in my mind, they’re a “one and done” outfit. There’s no need to think about matching your top and bottom pieces because once you throw on a dress, you’re already set. This dress is no different, and I love that it can easily be dressed up or down and worn to a range of different activities. Plus, it’s beyond comfortable. The material feels like butter, and it’s comfortable enough to wear all day — I even wore it on a six-hour road trip driving to Los Angeles and had zero issues.

My favorite way to style this dress has been with a pair of sneakers or sandals and a white button-down on top. I love that the addition of the white button-down makes the outfit look put together and chic. When I’m going for a more casual look, I throw a sweater or sweatshirt over my shoulders and usually put on a baseball cap as well. No matter how I wear it, I always get a ton of questions about where my dress is from, and people are always surprised to learn how affordable it is.

What’s Worth Noting

This dress is meant to be more flowy rather than tight-fitting. I’m wearing my typical XS, but it’s still roomy on me. If you’re looking for a tighter fit, I would definitely suggest sizing down. Otherwise, you’re most likely safe with choosing your typical size. The dress also has over 650 reviews on the Old Navy website, with tons of photos you can check out if you’re interested in seeing the dress in all different sizes.

Who Is This Dress Best For?

I think this dress is a great addition to anyone’s closet. It’s the perfect outfit to pair with sneakers and wear on a daily hot girl walk, running errands, or even working out. It’s versatile, so I love that I can switch out my sneakers for a pair of sandals and wear this dress to brunch with my girlfriends. I would recommend it to anyone!

Additional Details

  • This dress comes in sizes XS-4X as well as regular, tall, and petite.
  • It has a comfortable built-in shelf bra with adjustable straps.
  • The fabric is 77 percent polyester and 23 percent spandex. The directions say to machine wash cold on gentle and hang dry. I’ve followed these instructions, and my dress is still in tip-top shape.
  • The dress comes in six different colors: black, pink, green, white, light blue, and black leopard print.
