Hey there, Gossip Girls — it’s Jager Weatherby with Wetpaint Entertainment, here to take a look back at some of the most breathtakingly envy-inducing looks that Blake Lively, one of our favorite Upper East Siders, has worn throughout the years. While Blake has always been tall, leggy, and gorgeous, her sense of style has definitely improved with time — and a little help from her fashion industry friends. Join me for a high-heeled walk down memory lane.
Way back in 2008, the Met hosted their annual Costume Institute Gala, where the theme was “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy.” Blake channeled her inner Catwoman, showing up in a slick black gown with feather detailing, courtesy of Ralph Lauren. While fellow attendees went for fantastical gowns with bold colors and striking jewelry, Blake’s minimalism stood out, accessorizing with nothing more than a few diamond bracelets and edgy black gloves.
Jumping to the opposite end of the color spectrum, Blake looked white-hot in a skin-tight ivory Roberto Cavalli dress when she hosted the grand opening of a Swarovski store in the summer of 2009. A backless dress with mesh paneling might seem like a bit too much skin for some people… but with a figure like Blake’s, the combo was just right.
It seems a funny thing happened while filming Gossip Girl Season 4 — Blake became the toast of the fashion industry! Suddenly, pictures began surfacing of B chumming it up with Anna Wintour and taking on the City of Light with Karl Lagerfeld. And just like that, she had the wardrobe to match. When she showed up at the Toronto International Film Festival last fall, she wowed the red carpet in a glitzy crimson cocktail dress — designed by her bestie Karl, of course. Not one to ruin a good color story, Blake rounded out the look with bold cherry lips and red Louboutin pumps.
And finally, at the 2011 Met Costume Institute Gala, Blake was a goddess on earth in a draped and embroidered Chanel Couture gown with a coral Lorraine Schwartz cuff. While it might seem easy to be a fashion plate with designer friends at your beck and call, Blake made this elaborate dress seem effortless — which is exactly how she managed to become a style icon in the first place.
And there you have it — from girl-next-door to Vogue cover girl, Blake’s done it all and we can’t wait for her to wow us next. Rest assured, as soon as she slips into her next stunner of an outfit, you’ll be able to find it on http://www.Wetpaint.com/gossipgirl.
