The Fantastic Four are about to finally enter the MCU when First Steps releases in theaters on July 25. But, even before the team enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one of its stars, Joseph Quinn (The Human Torch), is already looking ahead to which MCU characters he wants Johnny Storm to team up with. Over the past seventeen years, the MCU has built a very eclectic roster of characters for Quinn to choose from. But, the Stranger Things star has gone with a fan favorite for his choice of potential MCU team-up. As well as sounding like a great idea on its own, it will also greatly appease fans of Marvel Comics, as the pair have frequently worked together in the pages of the comic books.
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter at The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ premiere, Joseph Quinn addressed the MCU role he once auditioned for, years before being cast as Johnny Storm. Quinn auditioned for the role of Peter Parker in the MCU, which later went to Tom Holland. With that in mind, Joseph Quinn was asked how he would feel about a potential Spider-Man/Human Torch crossover in the MCU’s future. “That pairing makes sense to me, and I think he’s brilliant, and I’m up for it,” the actor began. “I think we’d have a laugh.”

Joseph Quinn went on to heap praise on Tom Holland’s performance as Spider-Man/Peter Parker. Before Holland donned the red and blue suit, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield both played the role on the big screen. But, Quinn argues that Holland’s version is the best big-screen iteration of the character. “I’ve never met Tom, and I think he’s brilliant,” he continued. “His Peter Parker is the best one ever. I think he’s our best-ever Spider-Man, so why not? Let’s do it, get it moving.”
‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Reviews Tease an MCU Scorcher
In just two days, The Fantastic Four: First Steps will finally be released to the MCU fandom, after over a decade of wanting to see the characters fight alongside The Avengers on screen. Over the past 24 hours, reviews for First Steps have flooded the internet, and Marvel fans are apparently in for a good time this weekend.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is Certified Fresh at 87% on Rotten Tomatoes. Many of the reviews are overwhelmingly positive, with some calling it the best MCU movie in years. As well as boasting strong initial reviews, First Steps is also set to perform strongly at the box office. Current projections see the film taking home well over $100 million from its opening weekend. It might not be the lofty heights that Superman reached, but it would still be a strong performance.
Alongside Joseph Quinn, The Fantastic Four: First Steps also stars Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Vanessa Kirby. All four actors are confirmed to return as their respective characters in Avengers: Doomsday.
