Fontaines D.C. have taken to their social media to tease a blissed-out new song titled ‘It’s Amazing To Be Young’.
Today (February 19), the Dublin rockers took to their official Instagram account to share a video featuring a new song. The clip opens with a close-up shot of a girl blankly staring at the camera. The camera then zooms out and reveals that the girl is sitting in the boot of a small red car with her hands pressed against the rear window.
She remains in that position as the car drives off into a suburban neighbourhood. The clip ends with a title card that reads: “It’s Amazing To Be Young’ in red lettering.
“Well it’s amazing, to be young / Sometimes I wake up and it’s sad / Perform the ritual that puts me in the bag,” sings frontman Grian Chatten over an upbeat melody with bright acoustic guitars and pounding drums, which soundtracks the clip.
The song is reminiscent of the band’s song ‘Favourite‘ which marked the second single released from their critically-acclaimed fourth album ‘Romance‘. The caption of the post read: “New. It’s Amazing To Be Young.”
Fans took to the comments to share their reaction to the track with one user writing: “We need ‘Romance’ deluxe edition!!!” while another shared: “New music already? Best news we’ve had all week.”
Last summer, ‘Romance’ arrived and marked their fourth LP, and first with their new label XL Recordings. In a glowing five-star review of the James Ford-produced record, NME wrote: “‘Romance’ offers moments of wonder and gravity while also feeling occasionally foreboding.”
Elsewhere, Fontaines D.C. have been nominated for International Group Of The Year at this year’s edition of the BRITs. Recently, Pete Doherty shared his love for the band, sharing that there are “really good acts coming out of Ireland”.
