‘To a true champ who showed us how to be humble in triumph, how to fight through adversity and how to rise above the day to day challenges of everyday life with a smile on your face and a kind word of encouragement for everyone you meet along the way,’ David wrote.

He continued and said: ‘From the courts of sunny LA all the way to the #NBA and then on to a more personal mission of indoctrinating our young children into the beauty and joys of basketball, you soared high above most and demonstrated the type of love Christ admonished us to have when he asked us to “love thy neighbour the way you love thyself”.’
