The stars aligned for what some are calling the “wedding of the century.”
On July 12, after months of anticipation (and plenty of parties), Anant Ambani, the 29-year-old heir and youngest son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, married 29-year-old Radhika Merchant, daughter of pharmaceutical entrepreneurs Viren and Shaila Merchant.
The couple is honoring their nuptials with a multiday celebration, rumored to cost anywhere from $150 million to about half a billion dollars. The four-day event, which kicked off on Friday, was attended by guests Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, John Cena and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, as well as reported guests Drake and David Beckham — all of whom reportedly received invitations made of silver and gold.
The wedding ceremony was held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. A divine blessings ceremony took place on Saturday, followed by a planned grand reception on Sunday to conclude the newlyweds’ celebrations.
Their wedding week was just one of many times the couple celebrated their love. Earlier this month, Justin Bieber performed a show — and reportedly received a paycheck of $10 million to do so — in honor of the planned nuptials. In May, the Ambani family hosted a pre-wedding Mediterranean cruise, featuring 800 star guests and entertainment by the Backstreet Boys and Katy Perry. Rihanna also sang for the pair during their engagement back in March as part of a three-day event attended by 1,200 guests, which earned her a performance fee speculated to be between $5 million and $9 million.
