Grand Theft Auto 6 developers Rockstar Games have reportedly been blackmailed by a group of hackers over leaked data.
Over the weekend, The CyberSec Guru claimed that Rockstar Games had been targeted by a hacking group known as ShinyHunters who had reportedly tricked AI analytics platform Anodot to gather information about Rockstar.
“Rockstar Games, Your Snowflake instances were compromised thanks to Anodot.com. Pay or leak,” reads a statement shared by ShinyHunters. “This is a final warning to reach out by 14 April 2026 before we leak along with several annoying (digital) problems that’ll come your way. Make the right decision. Don’t be the next headline. FINAL WARNING: PAY OR LEAK.”
With data from Snowflake, ShinyHunters leakers could have information about voice actor contractors, deals with record labels about the music of Grand Theft Auto 6 and marketing timelines.
Rockstar Games is being blackmailed by hacking group ShinyHunters, who have set a ransom deadline of April 14.

However, in a statement shared with IGN, Rockstar claimed the leak is nothing to worry about. “We can confirm that a limited amount of non-material company information was accessed in connection with a third-party data breach,” they explained. “This incident has no impact on our organization or our players.”
Last week, a report claimed that Grand Theft Auto 6 publishers Take-Two had laid off their entire AI team.
This isn’t the first time hackers have tried to get their hands on Grand Theft Auto 6 data. At the start of the year Rockstar fired a number of staff after accusing them of sharing confidential information with the public and back in 2022, a British teenager was arrested for hacking Rockstar and leaking over one hours-worth of development footage for Grand Theft Auto 6.
According to games journalist Reece Reilly, a number of “crazy” Grand Theft Auto fans have also tried to get inside information about the new game. “I have heard stories from Rockstar devs over the years of nutty fans trying to get into their buildings to get any info they can from faking IDs to flying drones above windows to try to get images/video,” he wrote on X.
Some fans were worried that the physical version of Grand Theft Auto 6 would be delayed in an attempt to stop further leaks but Take Two boss Strauss Zelnick has debunked that rumour. He also said the marketing for Grand Theft Auto 6 would begin this summer and has hinted that the hit game will be priced between $70 and $80.
