Jack White releases 10 shows from ‘No Name’ tour on streaming

Jack White has released a batch of full-length concert recordings from his most recent tour supporting new album ‘No Name’.

Yesterday (September 19), White’s label Third Man Records announced the surprise drop on social media. The live recordings comprise full shows he performed recently in small club venues across the US, along with festival sets in Sweden and South Korea.

“Day in and day out, these performances – announced mere days in advance, selling out in an instant – are garnering laudatory praise and “best concert I’ve ever been to” reviews across the board,” writes Third Man Records executive and archivist Ben Blackwell in a statement.

“A quarter century into his touring career, Jack White is playing the best shows of his life and the audio here is all the proof you need.”

These live releases can be streamed on Nugs.net, which has, as of late, catalogued exclusive live recordings of concerts by Metallica, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, and Geese, among others. The releases can also be purchased as high-resolution downloads.

Taking to social media last month, the former White Stripes frontman posted a statement about how the recent small shows are part of a wider unconventional tour in support of ‘No Name’.

White wrote: “Hello, and love to all the peoples of the world out there. Lotta folk asking about when we are going to announce ‘tour dates’, well, we don’t know what to tell you but the tour already started at the Legion a couple of weeks ago.

“People keep saying that these are ‘Pop up shows’ we’ve been playing, well, you can call them whatever you want, but we are on tour right now.”

He continued: “These are the ‘shows’. We won’t really be announcing dates in advance so much, we will mostly be playing at small clubs, back yard fetes, and a few festivals here and there to help pay for expenses.”

White also surprise announced a small crop of UK dates, which sold out instantly. At his London show on September 13, he poked fun at the recent Oasis tickets controversy that saw them going into the hundreds for the upcoming reunion tour, with many coming under dynamic surge pricing. “This is the kind of rock’n’roll you’re not gonna get at Wembley Stadium for £400!” he told the crowd – tickets for the Islington Assembly Hall show cost only £55 before booking fees.

Earlier this week, White revealed that he’s teamed up with legendary guitar brand Fender to release two guitars and an amp – the Fender Jack White Triplecaster, Triplesonic and Pano Verb Amplifier – with each piece capturing “the raw energy, distinctive style, stripped-down instrumentation, and punk rock ethos that’s defined White’s illustrious career.” These items are now available for pre-order here.
