Fans of the MCU’s Hawkeye, a.k.a. star Jeremy Renner
, recently discovered why they have been deprived of a second season of his eponymous Disney+ Marvel series. Although a pay dispute appeared to be the big stumbling block for Renner’s return for Hawkeye
Season 2, his MCU future may not be as bleak as it first seemed, as in a new interview with Josh Horowitz for the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actor seemed very open to returning to his role.
While there is no indication of when Horowitz’s interview was recorded compared to Renner’s other recent comments, the actor explained that there is one big consideration that he makes about a possible return to the MCU.
“My daughter’s the priority. It’s not even a choice. I’m going to be a father to my daughter. If they’re going to keep shooting in London or [whatever], it’s not gonna work.”
Asked about several rumors of what Season 2 of Hawkeye would have looked like, with scoopers claiming that the storyline would have featured Clint Barton and Kate Bishop facing Barney Bart, a.k.a. Trickshot in a plot that took inspiration from The Raid. Responding to the claims, Renner said:
“Maybe some of that’s true in there, I don’t know. We got into it a little bit storywise and stuff. Everyone was interested in it. I wouldn’t want to say no to that. I think there’s still a lot of ideas and they’ve got to figure a lot of things out. I’m always game to do it, man. It’s a fun world, and I love being part of it. Selfishly, I like the currency of doing it because of what it means to the kids in the foundation I run.”
Jeremy Renner Is Still Realizing How Lucky He Is to Be Alive
There are few people who are unaware of the horrific accident that saw Renner being hospitalized after being crushed by a snowplow. While the actor is still now recovering from realising how close he came to death, his new memoir, “My Next Breath,” includes his account of how his family reacted to the accident. He wrote:
“As I lay on the ice, my heart rate slowed, and right there, on that New Year’s Day, unknown to my daughter, my sisters, my friends, my father, my mother, I just got tired. After about 30 minutes on the ice, of breathing manually for so long, an effort akin to doing 10 or 20 push-ups per minute for half an hour . . . that’s when I died. I died, right there on the driveway to my house.”
Thankfully, Renner did not die, despite it being a very close thing multiple times during those first hours following the accident. While Renner has now returned to work, whether that work will include a return to the MCU in one of the upcoming Avengers movies, or that elusive second season of Hawkeye, is something we are just going to have to wait and find out.
