Listen to Lewis Capaldi’s powerful new single ‘Survive’ ahead of rumoured secret Glastonbury set

Lewis Capaldi has returned with the powerful new single ‘Survive’ ahead of his heavily rumoured secret set at Glastonbury 2025 this weekend – check it out below.

The emotional and moving track sees Capaldi in top form as he seemingly sings of overcoming his struggles with mental health and Tourette’s Syndrome: “Most nights, I fear that I’m not enough / I’ve had my share of Monday mornings when I can’t get up / But when hope is lost and I come undone / I swear to God, I’ll survive / If it kills me to / I’m gonna get up and try / If it’s the last thing I do.”

‘Survive’ is the first new material from Capaldi since the extended edition of his 2023 album, ‘Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent’, which was surprise-released with new tracks including single ‘Strangers’ back in January.

Listen to Lewis Capaldi’s ‘Survive’ below.

Perhaps more exciting than Lewis’ return from a nearly two-year hiatus – and the potential of a new album soon – are the implications of a possible return to the stage this weekend at Glastonbury. There have been rumours of a secret set from the Scotsman at Glastonbury ever since the line-up for this year’s festival was revealed with gaps for ‘TBA’ artists.

These rumours have picked up even more steam in recent days as fans have spotted billboards in both Capaldi’s birthplace of Glasgow and Castle Cary, near the town of Glastonbury. These billboards reflected lyrics from Capaldi’s new song ‘Survive’.

One of the ‘TBA’ slots on Glastonbury’s line-up is on the Pyramid Stage at 4:55pm on Friday, before Alanis MorissetteBiffy Clyro, and The 1975’s headline performance, and could host a triumphant return to the stage for Capaldi. It would be his first time playing the festival since 2023, when he struggled with tics caused by Tourette’s and ended his set prematurely.

Because the ‘TBA’ set is shorter than the others, finishing at 5:30pm for a 35-minute performance, fans think Capaldi could be finishing the set from two years ago. At the 2023 set, fans helped him continue with his performance, and he was met with an outpouring of support from both those at the festival and at home. One mother of a teenager with Tourette’s hailed the performance as “amazingly powerful” and said that she was “in tears” over it.

Following the performance, Capaldi announced he was planning to take some time off to focus on his health. The singer said in a statement at the time that he was “still learning to adjust to the impact of my Tourette’s” and that his decision to call off his tour was “the most difficult decision of my life”.

Glastonbury 2025 is set to kick off in earnest tonight with headline sets from The 1975 and Loyle Carner alongside the likes of Biffy ClyroFranz FerdinandWet LegSupergrassSelf Esteem and two highly anticipated ‘TBA’ secret sets – with the one on Woodsies set to be Lorde after she appeared to confirm the news, and the Pyramid slot rumoured to be Lewis Capaldi. ‘Patchwork’ is largely believed to be Pulp, while Haim have suggested they’ll be playing Saturday’s TBA slot on The Park.

The weekend continues with Charli XCXDeftonesNeil YoungOlivia RodrigoThe ProdigyRod Stewart and many more. Check out the full line-up and schedule here.
