Loki Reportedly Most Watched Marvel Show on Disney+

Marvel Studios has been on a hugely successful run when it comes to their Disney+ series output. From WandaVision through to the current Moon Knight, the studio has pushed boundaries, expanded on the Marvel Cinematic Universe in new ways, and produced some of the most-watched Disney+ content, and indeed most watched across all streaming platforms. However, new figures have shown that there is one Marvel show that has proved to be more popular than any other, and just like you would expect of the god of mischief, that show is Loki.

In the MCU, Tom Hiddleston’s roguish sometimes-villain has had many ups and downs, but somehow he always seems to manage to rise to the top in one way or another. Now it seems that his solo TV series, which will be one of the few titles to have a second season, has done the same by fighting off competition from the likes of WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier to be the most-watched MCU series on Disney+, which it can add to the accolade of having the most-watched premiere of any show on the platform that it already had secured under its belt.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

While the show still lags behind the phenomenal performance of The Mandalorian, which stands as a behemoth on Disney+ with over 14.5 billion minutes watched to date, THR reported that Loki clocks in at 5.23 billion watched minutes, which considering it only has one season, so far is certainly nothing to be sniffed at, and puts it ahead of WandaVision (4.8 billion), The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (4.15 billion) and Hawkeye (3.45 billion). Of course, some of these shows have had longer on the platform than others, and with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness having strong connections to WandaVision, that series could well see a surge of interest in the coming months that could see it challenge Loki as top Marvel show.

Disney+/Marvel

While there are a lot more new series coming to Disney+ from Marvel Studios, from Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk, to Secret Invasion and many more rumored titles, Loki’s second season is certain to be another big hit on the platform. While there will be a change in director for the new season, with Kate Herron passing on a return, handing over to Moon Knight duo Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson, and it is not known whether writer Michael Waldron will return, but considering his development of the multiverse storyline for season one, and also having written Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it would be assumed that Marvel will have him back again.

Although there is no idea where Loki’s second season will pick up, there are a lot of possibilities, and considering Tom Hiddleston has previously talked about feeling like a torchbearer for the character. He believes he will, at some point, hand it over to someone new, there doesn’t seem to be much doubt that Loki’s future in the MCU may be uncertain, but he will be sticking around for a little while yet.
