The image, which accompanied her line ‘happy birthday to me’ plus a Japanese flag emoji, showed Apatow posing with sumo wrestlers. The unexpected venue became a prime focus of interest for practically everyone who had come across it. Instead of a typical party scene, there was the actress, most likely in a sumo training stable, taking pictures with the wrestlers. It was a celebratory photo that was far removed from the Hollywood lifestyle.

It was not long before the reactions emerged and the intertwining of warm birthday wishes and pure astonishment took place. Many, including a user with the account ‘untold_japan,’ were quick to appreciate her presence and felt moved to say, ‘Happy birthday, Maude! Thanks for coming with us again.’ Another user, on the contrary, just simply said, ‘Happy birthday Maude!! Always a massive pleasure having you in Japan.’

Nevertheless, the major topic was soon a stream of inquiries about the unusual group. ‘What are you doing in there with all them?’ a person asked bluntly. Another one paraphrased the same thing with a lengthy way saying, ‘What is going on here?’ The level of confusion was so high that comments like ‘Hold up wait what’ and ‘what’s with the sumos?’ came up very often.

Besides, there were some reactions which were a bit comical or completely misinterpreted. One person even thought of the teasing and said, ‘Lucky girl got to see Chippendales??,’ thus entirely mistaking the wrestlers for a different type. Someone else was even more puzzling when he said, ‘Thought it was a blacked scene fr,’ which totally indicated a different kind of gathering. In the midst of all the confusion, some people recognized the moment as an extremely rare opportunity. ‘Holy shit you got to go to a Sumo Stable!’ one user exclaimed thus he was pointing out that such a thing was almost impossible for a foreign visitor.

There were many and sincere birthday tributes. They managed to go through the oddness of the picture. Friends, fans, and family, among whom was a lovely one from Lesliemann saying, ‘Happy birthday my sweet Maudie,’ sent their messages flooding in and one of the well-wishers shared a detailed plan for feast: ‘first: 🥳 then 🎉 after that 🎂…yummy!’

Maude Apatow who is Lexi Howard in the blockbuster series ‘Euphoria’ generally keeps her personal life mainly under wraps. However, this cultural birthday celebration of hers was a fun and unexpected way of letting us into her life through her travelings. It was like revealing a light on the actress’ character that is a risk-taker and loves to immerse himself in the local customs, even if it is for a short time that she has her followers amazed. Her recent attendance at Vogue World Hollywood was another example of her public appearances.

The social media post combined a personal moment with a picture that aroused curiosity and created a situation that was less about a lavish celebration and more about an exciting, ordinary experience. It was a stronghold that sometimes the most astonishing birthday events are the ones that overturn expectations and generate buzz more than anybody ever thought, even when the buzz is primarily about people asking what in the world the photo means. Ultimately, it was a birthday post that was really different from the others, just like the sumo wrestlers that were around her. She has also been recognized with a Women in Film honor from Max Mara.
