Eve Hewson was right at home in the music world for an Irish rock band. Only, this is not a U2 track, it is For the First Time by The Script. The Script formed in 2001 and released their first album, which was self-titled in 2008. However, it wasn’t until two years later that Hewson starred in the music video for the band. The song is about love and how hardships can impact a relationship, but it is vital to never give up. The message is clear and apparent to audiences all around the globe.

When Michael Noer decided to remake Papillon, industry executives were mixed about whether the film could capture a modern audience. One thing was certain, Eve Hewson was one of the positives in the movie. The story follows a notorious prison break from 1933 on the Salvation Island of French Guiana and how Henri “Papillon” Chariere achieved freedom. Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek star in the leading roles, while Hewson portrayed Hunnam’s wife, Nennete, who anchors the entire movie.

Hewson Makes the Most of Her Moments

When the Papillon character is taken from his life with Hewson’s Nenette, she has to play full desperation and watch her life be stripped away right in front of her very eyes. It is a challenging moment and Hewson carries a pain and anxiety that serves to haunt the viewer. It adds a layer to the drama that is effective solely because of how convincing the love Hewson injects between the two characters truly is.

Industry veteran Eva Green, Himesh Patel, and Eve Hewson fill out the cast as they explore deception, greed, and love.

Hewson’s poise and power shine as her character, Anna Wetherell, consistently contemplates her next move and how it will affect those around her. Though Lamia did not follow everything that Hilderbrand had written, the story follows Hewson’s, Amelia Sacks, as she is about to marry into an incredibly well-off family until suddenly the whole event is derailed by a dead body appearing on the beach. Now, the question is who did it?

The show made a big splash on streaming for its unique approach to black comedy. The ensemble cast features the aforementioned creator, Sharon Horgan, Anna Marie-Duff, Sarah Greene, and Eve Hewson as Becka Garvey, the youngest of the group, who despises her sister’s abusive husband.

Eve Hewson Shows Genuine Dublin Commitment

Hewson’s character loathes her brother-in-law so much that she brings up the idea of murdering him. There is an authenticity that Hewson brings to the role that only someone from an Irish upbringing could bear. She is sharp with her banter, open with her emotions, and incredibly committed to her sisters. It is not an easy task to get the audience to believe that killing another character is the right thing to do. However, the script is meticulously crafted and gives Hewson the perfect vehicle to play a raw, engaging, and charming performance.

1 Flora & Son (2023)

John Carney’s latest in the dramatic movie musical genre is right up there with his best. Flora & Son follows a single mom, played with perfect raunchy charm by Eve Hewson, and her son Max as they navigate the challenges of life in Dublin and how music can connect us all. Although these hopeful musical-driven themes are a comfortable space for Carney and his composer, Gary Clark, he separates this piece from the rest of his work with a crude yet captivating lead role.

Eve Hewson Charms With Career Best Acting as Flora

Hewson splices enough wit and magnetism to carry this heartwarming movie to the promised land. When we first meet Hewson’s Flora, it is challenging to like her, but as the movie progresses, the audience cannot help but root for her every step of the way. This is a challenging role to play. However, Hewson leans into all the difficult parts of the character and shines a bright light on the vulnerability it takes to be a great parent.
