Despite its relatively recent entry into the streaming field, Max is proving itself as a worthy competitor. It boasts HBO, Warner Bros, Discovery, TBS, Adult Swim & Cartoon Network content, and several more iconic brands. Whatever your viewing preference may be, you’re bound to find something to watch on this streamer.
May is typically one of the slower months across all platforms. Spring is on its way out, though the peak of summer isn’t here yet. But Max is still putting out some highly anticipated new content. In addition to ongoing episodes of shows like The Last of Us, there are also exciting new seasons and series. Max unveiled its full slate for May, so let’s look at some of the best offerings.
Streaming May 1
After a two-year hiatus, 100 Foot Wave, following surfer Garrett McNamara, is back. The first two seasons chronicled McNamara’s attempts to catch the tallest wave ever surfed. While he hasn’t officially reached the titular 100 feet, McNamara is believed to hold the world record at around 80 to 90 feet.
The series also follows McNamara’s surfing journey in the beach town of Nazare, Portugal, and his attempts to transform the town into a surfing destination. 100 Foot Wave comes from famed documentarian Chris Smith, known for projects like American Movie, Fyre, and executive producing the early-COVID fever dream that was Tiger King. 100 Foot Wave’s third season will be available to stream on May 1, with one episode each week throughout the month.
‘Conan O’Brien Must Go’ (Season 2)
Streaming May 8
After three decades in the comedy business, this series takes the ginger-haired icon on the road. Conan’s no stranger to travel shows, as several episodes of his previous series, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and Conan filmed special episodes in other countries. This latest outing follows O’Brien as he travels and speaks with people in person who had been previously featured in video calls on his podcast series.
