Almost Two Years Ago, Kevin Bacon Has Already Expressed Interest In Reprising His Role In Tremors

Universal Pictures Distributions

This isn’t the first time the actor has expressed his interest in doing another Tremors film. The actor is still waiting for the call, almost two years after he first expressed his desire to revisit his role in Tremors. During the actor’s interview with Esquire in May 2021, he was asked what role he wanted to revisit and quickly answered with his role in Tremors. After starring in over 70 films, he revealed that Tremors is the only film he’s re-watched after it came out.

He said “It was one film of mine that I wanted to revisit that character. I don’t look back at all. In fact, Tremors is the only movie of mine that I have rewatched since it’s come out.”

There were also plans at one point to make a TV series at SyFy that would have followed Bacon reprising his role from the first Tremors film. A pilot was made and fans were stoked, but for whatever reason, Syfy passed on moving forward with the show.

Tremors starred Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward and Reba McEntire. The film classic was a massive disaster in the box office when it was released in 1990. Tremors reportedly had an overall budget of $10 million however it only made $16.7 million in the domestic box office. With the technological advancement in the last decades, a lot of fans were able to watch the film when it was later released in VHS. The film’s popularity soon skyrocketed, and it became among the fan favorites.

Thanks to the clout for the film, Universal thought about doing a sequel, and they’ve already reached out to Bacon on doing another Tremors film. Unfortunately, the production company wanted to make a straight to DVD film so Kevin Bacon ultimately declined the offer. Universal has since made six straight-to-video sequels and not one starred Bacon.
