Kevin Feige isn’t saying where or when, but the Marvel boss has teased that Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock may soon be showing up.
If the rumors are true and Matt Murdock is coming back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we can expect for it to be Charlie Cox back in the role. Previously, Cox played the titular superhero in all three seasons of Daredevil at Netflix. Because the show was such a tremendous hit with fans, there have been demands ever since for Marvel Studios to bring back Cox’s Daredevil in the MCU after Netflix pulled the plug on the original series.
Nothing is officially confirmed at this time, but there are rampant rumors of an imminent Daredevil return. Cox is rumored to appear in the role this month in Spider-Man: No Way Home. He has also been rumored to appear in the upcoming She-Hulk series at Disney+, and that also seems very possible given the courtroom setting of the new series. It seems more likely than not Cox will appear in one or the other, if not both, or perhaps even elsewhere in the MCU. Better yet, it will be the same actor, as Feige recently confirmed to Cinema Blend.

“If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things, Charlie Cox, yes, would be the actor playing Daredevil. Where we see that, how we see that, when we see that, remains to be seen.”
Feige is making sure to have the word “if” in there, carefully avoiding the reveal of any specific surprises. The truth is most of us are expecting Cox’s Matt Murdock to arrive at some point, but there’s still a big part of the fun in wondering where and when that might be. With that being the case, his potential arrival should still come across as an amazing surprise. Wherever this special appearance might happen, let’s just hope it might also lead to additional seasons or a new TV series with Daredevil.
Charlie Cox has personally teased his Daredevil return as well. In September, the actor told Forbes, “Also if there was a chance of that happening in the future, I don’t want to say something that could potentially jeopardize those chances because the people high up at Marvel, maybe they see this stuff or hear what I say and maybe that influences. I don’t know. I have no idea. I love how passionate the fans are and I feel very, very, very touched that so many of them have gone online and made their voices heard about the desire for me to come back.”
Additionally, Cox suggested that the Daredevil characters would be “reimagined” versions if they do happen to arrive in the MCU, which is honestly bittersweet. This suggests that the Netflix series isn’t canon to the MCU, so all three seasons Marvel fans had invested in during that show may no longer “count.” Even so, it’s going to be awesome to see Cox back in that role, even if it’s not the exact same Matt Murdock but an MCU variant. Meanwhile, there are also heavy rumors of Vincent D’Onofrio showing up in the Hawkeye series as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin. This news comes to us from Cinema Blend.
