Acclaimed actor and The Dark Knight star Aaron Eckhart leads the upcoming action thriller Rumble Through the Dark, for which we’ve gotten our hands on an exclusive clip. Eckhart stars as an aged bare-knuckle fighter who seeks to repay his debts to the dangerous Big Momma Sweet in a final, desperate attempt to salvage the family home of his dying foster mother. Alongside Aaron Eckhart, Rumble Through the Dark also features Bella Thorne (The DUFF), Ritchie Coster (The Dark Knight), and Marianne Jean-Baptiste (The Book of Clarence). The thriller is directed and produced by Graham and Parker Phillips, writer-director brothers based out of New York and Los Angeles. Parker studied literature at Bucknell University, while Graham studied U.S. history at Princeton University. Their filmography includes The Mediator (short), The Bygone, and now Rumble Through the Dark.
The project has been written by Michael Farris Smith, an award-winning writer whose novels have appeared on Best of the Year lists with Esquire, NPR, Garden & Gun, O (the Oprah Magazine), Book Riot, and numerous other outlets. Smith has also written the feature-film adaptations of his novels Desperation Road and now The Fighter (re-titled for the screen as Rumble Through the Dark).

Aaron Eckhart Delivers ‘A Stunningly Intense Physical Performance’ in Rumble Through the Dark

MovieWeb’s own Julian Roman heaped praise on Aaron Eckhart’s performance as boxer Jack Boucher in Rumble Through the Dark, calling it “a stunningly intense physical performance.”
“Eckhart spends the entire film wincing in pain. The climactic contest looks like pure hell. He’s a gladiator in a ring with no rules. Jack is punched, kicked, and tossed like a ragdoll in a bloody mud pit. Savage is an understatement. Eckhart shows unquestionable commitment to the character by repeatedly getting his ass kicked, but then gives as good as he receives for those he treasures. Eckhart is tremendous here. He owns Rumble Through the Dark with talent and tenacity.”
Directors Graham and Parker Phillips have also praised Eckhart for his commitment and physical transformation while speaking with MovieWeb.
The guy just brought an incredible work ethic and focus. So, when every day he’s paired up with a new actor, a new person he’s fighting, they had to meet him at his level. And, you know, hats off to him and to the rest of our cast for doing that. But Aaron definitely led the way.
