Rumors of Kristen Bell’s Casting as Sue Storm Flare Up

The rumor mill has been running wild in recent days concerning the cast of the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. Shortly after it was reported that Adam Driver was in “final talks” to play Reed Richards, a new rumor emerged that Mila Kunis was also in discussions with director Matt Shakman about joining the film. There was speculation that she may be playing the new Sue Storm, aka Invisible Woman, with other rumors suggesting she was up for playing a gender-swapped Ben Grimm, aka The Thing. In any case, Kunis denied that she would be playing either of this characters, claiming on The Late Late Show that she wasn’t in the film.

“I am not in Fantastic Four,” Kunis said, going on to offer a hint as to who is in the movie. “I know who it is. But I don’t wanna get in trouble with the Mouse!”

These vague comments were enough to get the rumor mill churning again, and it wasn’t long before Kristen Bell emerged as someone likely to be up for the role of Sue Storm. News scooper Daniel Richtman pointed out that Kunis and Bell are “good friends,” which could theoretically explain how the former would know about the latter’s secret casting, if that is indeed the case. With that said, there hasn’t been anything official coming in to back up that speculation, but the idea is nevertheless spreading throughout social media, as Bell’s name has come up often with fans doing fantasy casting online.

When it comes to Sue Storm, there have been other names to have hit the rumor mill. Jodie Comer (Free Guy) is someone who’d been reported to be “in talks” with Marvel Studios about a potential casting, and the rumor had gotten enough traction to be asked of Comer on the Happy Sad Confused podcast last month, where she claimed she doesn’t “know anything about it.” Emily Blunt is another name that fans have called for to get the role, though her casting seems less likely, as Blunt has said she doesn’t really have interest in that part.

The Cast of Fantastic Four Has Yet to Be Revealed

What’s clear is that the fan speculation is going to continue until official casting announcements are made. Of course, it’s important to take all of these rumors with a grain of salt until they can be verified by Marvel Studios. In any case, there are a lot of eyes on the project with fans eager to see who will be cast in the next Fantastic Four reboot.

What we know about the film for sure at this point in time is that it will be directed by Matt Shakman with a new screenplay from Josh Friedman. We also know that it’s scheduled to be released in movie theaters on Feb. 14, 2025, after it was previously set for a 2024 release. Production cannot be too far off, so hopefully fans will start getting some official casting announcements sooner rather than later, putting an end to the rampant speculation.
