Could Richard Armitage Take Over from Daniel Craig as the Next James Bond?
Sky1
His role in The Man from Rome puts Richard Armitage at the heart of all manner of action and espionage, something that could come in handy should the actor be chosen to swap out the priest’s collar for a bow tie as the next James Bond. While no official announcements have yet been made regarding who will don the tux as the next 007, Armitage is no stranger to action or major franchises thanks to his role in The Hobbit trilogy, and has demonstrated his range in the likes of The Stranger, Stay Close, Hannibal, Ocean’s Eight, and more.
Though his odds as the next James Bond may have dropped in recent months in favor of the such top choices as Henry Cavill (Man of Steel), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kraven the Hunter), James Norton (Happy Valley), Paapa Essiedu (The Lazarus Project), and Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises), Armitage often finds himself in the top 10 of potential actors who could take over the iconic role now that Daniel Craig legacy has come to an end with 2021’s No Time to Die.
Not only do many 007 fans think that Armitage has the right stuff to make a great Bond, but so does artificial intelligence, with specialist AI software giving The Man from Rome star a rating of 92% rating after analyzing “a DNA footprint of each actor which comprises over 1,000 on-screen character attributes, such as character typology, story elements and cinematographic tones.”
The Man from Rome is scheduled to land in theaters and On Demand from Friday, June 30, 2023, courtesy of Screen Media.
