While the entire DC fandom waited with bated breath to hear who would portray the Man of Steel in James Gunn’s Superman, so too did David Corenswet’s cast mates from his previous film, Twisters. Corenswet was announced to be the next Clark Kent in Gunn’s Superman in 2023, while the actor was shooting the Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones-led disaster movie. When Corenswet was announced, fans went wild, but it seems nobody was as happy as Corenswet’s co-stars.
Brandon Perea (who plays Boone in Twisters) shared a video on Instagram of Corenswet’s co-stars, including Powell, Edgar-Jones, Harry Hadden-Paton, and Sasha Lane reacting to the casting announcement. As Perea shouts, “That’s our Superman, baby!” the camera pans around to reveal the entire cast launching into the air with excitement. Check out Brandon Perea’s post below:
Before David Corenswet is recognized all over the globe for playing DC Comics’ big blue boyscout in Superman, Twisters gave the actor the chance to sink his teeth into a more antagonistic role. In Twisters, David Corenswet plays Scott, an employee of Storm Par, a private company experimenting with 3D tracking technology to monitor storms. While Tyler Owens (Glen Powell) and Kate Carter (Daisy Edgar-Jones) embrace their humanitarian side by helping those devastated by the twisters, Scott is a corporate zombie, who abandons people to protect the company’s technology and secure his job.
James Gunn Reacts to the Twisters Cast Reaction Clip
Brandon Perea’s video sent a wave of warm emotions across the DC fan base. While some (mainly Zack Snyder diehards), have criticized the first and only official image of James Gunn’s Superman, already writing off the movie as a failure, many have embraced the Guardians of the Galaxy director’s vision for a new Superman movie. The video has exploded in popularity online, and has even reached the attention of Gunn himself. Taking to Threads, James Gunn shared his short-but-sweet thoughts about the clip of the Twisters cast celebrating on behalf of David Corenswet. Reposting the video, Gunn’s caption simply reads:
Some fans wondered where David Corenswet actually was when the video was taken. Thankfully, those inquisitive questions have been answered by Hollywood’s new leading man, Glen Powell. During an interview for Twisters (via @DCWorldTelugu on X), Powell revealed that David Corenswet called them just before the video was taken, telling his castmates he’d been cast as Superman in James Gunn’s new movie. The reaction in the video is genuine, showing the immediate aftermath of the phone call. Powell said:
“We got the call, we all were on camera freaking out & he told us he is Superman”
Alongside David Corenswet, Superman also stars Rachel Brosnahan, Milly Alcock, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, Nicholas Hoult, Wendell Pierce, Skylar Gisondo, and Edi Gathegi. So far, none of Corenswet’s Twisters co-stars have been confirmed to appear in Superman, or James Gunn’s revamped DC Universe. However, the fan base has been calling for Glen Powell to join the DC Universe ever since his supporting role in Top Gun: Maverick.
