Universal Studios Adds Jupiter’s Claim Set From Jordan Peele’s Nope

As Jordan Peele‘s summer horror pic Nope debuts in theaters on July 22, the set from the movie’s amusement park will join Universal Studios Hollywood’s Studio Tour. This will give park visitors a behind-the-scenes look at Jupiter’s Claim, the gold-rush-themed amusement park featured in Nope. The set will be added as a permanent fixture.

The Jupiter’s Claim set was created by Emmy-nominated production designer Ruth DeJong, who collaborated with Peele for his 2019 film Us. The set was taken apart post filming and later taken to Universal Studios Hollywood and reconstructed on site.

Peele, who recently announced the launch of a Jupiter’s Claim website through social media shared his excitement about the opening attraction.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“I remember visiting Universal Studios when I was 12 years old and being mesmerized. That experience reinforced my passion and drive to someday join in on the meta-magic of ‘backlot life.’ Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to direct three movies for Universal. It is a privilege to honor these collaborations with my studio partners, crew members and cast, and to be able to share Jupiter’s Claim with fans.”

This marks the first time in Universal Studios’ history that an attraction opens on the same day as a movie release.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Jordan Peele and bring a piece of his innovative film to Universal Studios Hollywood for our guests to experience,” said Scott Strobl, EVP and General Manager, Universal Studios Hollywood said in a statement. “Jordan’s creativity and ingenuity have produced unique, thought-provoking movies, and we couldn’t be more excited to showcase his original Jupiter’s Claim set as a permanent centerpiece attraction on the Studio Tour, giving our guests a front-row seat to authentic movie-making magic.”

What We Know About Nope

Universal Pictures

Nope tells the story of a group of residents living in Santa Clarita, an isolated desert town in California. Although plot details have been kept under wraps, released trailers have alluded to extraterrestrial activity. Universal has coined Nope “an expansive horror epic” and a “new pop nightmare.”

Nope reunites Peele with Oscar-winner Daniel Kaluuya, who starred in Get Out. Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Michael Wincott and Brandon Perea round out the case. Nope is written and directed by Peele, and produced by Ian Cooper (Candyman) and Peele for Monkeypaw Productions. The psychological horror-thriller will be released by Universal Pictures worldwide with IMAX optimization.

Peele won the Oscar for the Best Original Screenplay for his directorial debut Get Out. In 2019, he directed Us, starring Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke.
