“Hello, yes, it’s me, world-famous actor Warwick Davis,” the original Willow star says in the footage. He reveals that he’s on the set of the reboot series of his “most popular role,” and says he’s been given the honor of introducing the show’s new supporting cast that will be joining him on an all new adventure. That’s right, Davis is back as the titular character once again, and he personally gives us our first peek at his fellow cast members.

The new cast includes Dempsey Bryk, Amar Chadha-Patel, Ellie Bamber, Tony Revolori, Ruby Cruz, and Erin Kellyman, all of whom appear in the footage. Warwick Davis also says in the clip that the series is coming to Disney+ sometime in 2022 along with a peek at the official logo. It’s not quite the same as seeing the cast in costume just yet, but it’s nevertheless very exciting to see Warwick Davis gearing up to reprise his classic role, and he’s already playing off of his supporting cast very well.
Full plot details haven’t been revealed about the Willow series, but it obviously brings back Warwick Davis to reprise his role as Willow Ufgood. With the new cast in place, the show will follow a princess assembling a party to join her on a quest to rescue her twin brother. It takes place years after the events of the movie, and in the video, Davis jokes that a big focus of the series is about how good Willow looks for his age.
“I’m hoping that we establish Willow as a very accomplished sorcerer now,” David told Radio Times last year after the show was announced, teasing a reunion with other returning stars. “I hope he’s been practicing and we get to see him do some real magic, which would be fabulous. And also I’m hoping that we can reunite with Val Kilmer and Joanne Whalley as well!”
On how the series came together, Davis said, “Everything sort of aligned when we did the movie Solo. The writer John Kasdan was a huge fan of Willow… And then Ron Howard came into direct and John mentioned to him that he was a big fan of Willow and that got them talking. And I was on Solo looking a little bit like Willow with my long hair as Weazel, and all these things came together. We took it to Disney+ and they were as excited as we were about it and greenlit the series.”
Willow will premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2022. For now, fans can go back and watch the original classic streaming on Disney+. The announcement comes from Disney as a part of the Disney+ Day festivities.
