EA Sports FC 25, previously FIFA, has released its upcoming soundtrack, and many fans are unhappy with the selection this year.
Some of the artists on the soundtrack are Skrillex, Charli XCX, Coldplay, Billie Eilish and Ice Spice. It’s a far cry from the series’ early days of indie bands, and many fans are unhappy with the direction.
ice spice on a fifa soundtrack instead of an indie band from finland i’ve never heard of who are struggling to pay their energy bills but just produced the most feel good song of all time https://t.co/mc0w7780ag pic.twitter.com/mRtsNXiViC

FIFA, as the series was previously known before the football organisation didn’t renew its license with EA, was known for its iconic indie bands on its soundtracks that play whenever players aren’t in a match. Even international fans aren’t happy with the new direction.

A lot of the complaints online are regarding how much rap is on the soundtrack. Some say that the change is due to the listening habits of people these days, with rap overtaking indie as the dominant genre.
FIFA soundtracks used to be iconic with tracks like “Dreams” by Beck, “I Can Talk” by Two Door Cinema Club, “Love Me Again” by John Newman, “My Number” by Foals, “Bodyrock” by Moby, and “Jerk it Out” by The Caesars. Now we’ve got Ice Spice on the playlist. What happened to all…

Although EA can’t please everyone, a lot of people are praising the soundtrack. “Few bangers here ngl,” wrote one fan. “Fred againnnn let’s go,” tweeted another. There are still lesser-known artists on the soundtrack, too, such as Coventry rapper Pa Salieu. “PA SALIEU?! COVENTRY WE UP!” one of his fans wrote.

Others seem like they’ve always been happy with the series’ soundtracks, writing “there is one thing fifa has consistently been good at, and it’s the soundtrack.”
Bands like Catfish And The Bottlemen and Kasabian are also included in this year’s soundtrack, so there are still indie and rock bands on there, just fewer than in previous years.
EA Sports FC 25 launches September 20 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S and One, and PC.
In other news, the upcoming Starfield expansion, Shattered Space, is a departure from the base game, featuring a new “handcrafted” planet where the entire DLC story will take place.
