The new television version of Cruel Intentions is streaming on Amazon Prime Video now, but what songs are included on the show? Read on to find out.
All eight episodes are streaming on the platform as of Thursday (November 21), with Sarah Catherine Hook (First Kill), Zac Burgess (Boy Swallows Universe) and Savannah Lee Smith (Gossip Girl) taking on the lead roles.
The show is based on the cult 1999 movie of the same name, directed by Roger Kumble and starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon. That film was in turn a modern retelling of the 1782 novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos.
The new version is set in an elite Washington D.C. college and follows two manipulative step-siblings who will do anything to elevate their social status, and hatch a plan to seduce the daughter of the US Vice President.
Amazon first announced the project in 2021 and it began filming in June 2023. Phoebe Fisher and Sara Goodman have overseen the show’s development.

Just as the 1999 film included an array of music from the era, including Placebo’s ‘Every You Every Me’, Fatboy Slim’s ‘Praise You’ and Blur’s ‘Coffee + TV’, the new adaptation also notably makes use of pop music.
One song that binds together the two versions is The Verve’s ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’, which was the film’s signature song and is now featured in the final episode of the show. ‘Every You Every Me’ also makes a second appearance, in a cover by Lisa Mitchell.
Other artists included in the show include Dream Wife, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Olivia Rodrigo, Bar Italia and Portishead.
