Justin Bieber has appeared to have cut ties with his own brand Drew House, publicly telling his fans “don’t waste ur money”.
In a since-deleted Instagram story post, made yesterday (April 10), wrote over a screenshot of the Drew House official Instagram page with a message asking fans to no longer support it – People reports.
“I Justin Bieber am no longer involved in this brand. Drew House doesn’t represent me or my family or life,” he wrote. “If your [sic] rocking with me the human Justin Bieber don’t waste ur money on Drew House.”
Bieber started the streetwear company in 2019 with Ryan Good, his former road manager and stylist. They became known for their hotel slippers and clothes branded with smiley faces.
His Instagram story came after he shared a video on his Instagram reels that featured an animated version of himself walking into a house filled with Drew-branded items. The animated Bieber then lights a match and sets the house on fire, before he is joined by his wife Hailey Bieber and their son Jack, in a stroller, and walking to a building. The video ends with the words “SKYLRK” appearing on the screen.
A source, with a connection to Bieber and Drew House employees, allegedly told People: “The SKYLRK announcement was a slap in the face to all the people who had been working hard on the next Drew House release. Also some of his employees were affected from the Palisades and Pasadena fires. That video he used to burn the house down was highly inappropriate and insensitive but that’s who he really is.”
Late last month, the Canadian singer was seen rapping about being high, sparking concern from the public. The clip came just days after a representative for the ‘Stay’ singer shut down online rumours of drug use, branding the comments as “false” and “harmful”.
As well as comments about his health, there have also been reports that Bieber is back in the studio and planning a major comeback soon. These were heightened when he was seen in the studio at the start of the new year, and again when Mk.gee revealed that he had been working with the singer on new material.
In other Justin Bieber-related news, his track ‘Stay’ with The Kid LAROI has joined YouTube’s Billion Views Club. The video for ‘Stay’, which was released in July 2021, sees the duo frozen in time as LAROI deals with heartbreak.
It was filmed in an abandoned hotel in downtown Los Angeles, not far from the notorious Cecil Hotel, which has played host to many suicides and deaths since being built in 1924 – it was also the subject of the Netflix documentary Crime Scene: The Vanishing At The Cecil Hotel.
