A sitar cover of the 1996 Oasis hit ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ has gone viral. Check it out below.
The iconic Manchester band confirmed their comeback earlier this year, with the formerly estranged Gallagher brothers announcing they’d be performing together for the first time in 16 years next summer. They’ll play 19 shows at stadiums across the UK and Ireland. Further dates at Wembley were recently added in response to widespread ticket controversy.
Since the announcement, fans have been celebrating online. At the time, one wrote “the world has healed” now that the Gallaghers have reconciled. While another person said: “Never thought I’d see the day. YOU AND I ARE GONNA LIVE FOREVER! ❤️.”
Now, a musician has taken celebrations one step further, sharing a sitar cover of ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’, from the band’s seminal 1995 album ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’.
Nik Howlett, who posts under the username SitarNik, is a musician in the Atlanta-based “Sitar Rock” band Shock Tea. He posted the cover on Instagram in August, and it’s since circulated online.
Howlett’s take on the track, using the Indian stringed instrument, gives the Oasis classic a psychedelic feel. Check it out below.
In other Oasis news, Liam has suggested that “there could be a few new faces” performing with Oasis as part of their 2025 reunion concerts.
Initially, reports claimed “no other original Oasis member were expected to join the reunion”, and that the members of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds would be stepping in for the rest of the band.
However, many began speculating that Oasis co-founder and original guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, would be coming along for the tour dates.
Oasis have also responded to reports about a possible return to Knebworth in 2026, and shut down speculation surrounding a headline performance at Glastonbury next summer.
Meanwhile, LG has teased that a new Oasis album is “already finished” following rumours and ongoing discussion about the possibility of new music from the Gallaghers.
