ICYMI: the BET Awards kicked off in Los Angeles on Sunday night, featuring high-charged performances and tributes from some of hip-hop’s most iconic figures like Coco Jones, Tyga, and even a Migos reunion with Quavo and Offset. But the night’s most-talked-about topic — at least from a sartorial perspective — emerged on the red carpet in the form of summer’s latest obsession, aka the naked dress trend.
Naked dresses certainly aren’t new to mainstream fashion, but this season, they’ve become the preferred silhouette of many of Hollywood’s most fashionable celebrities. Florence Pugh has stepped out in a number of barely there looks. Kim Kardashian and Megan Fox have each embraced Mugler’s sheer and shapely designs on the red carpet. Ciara famously rocked a see-through fishnet Dundas gown at the Vanity Fair Oscars party earlier this year. And POPSUGAR’s senior fashion editor reviewed the aesthetic via Onarin’s Ms. Hearts bustier and fishtail skirt set. The BET Awards red carpet was no exception, with nominees and presenters alike rocking their own renditions of the aesthetic.
