Nicolas Cage Is the Passenger from Hell in Sympathy for the Devil Trailer

RLJE Films has released the official trailer for Sympathy for the Devil. Featuring Nicolas Cage in one of his craziest roles yet, the film features the Renfield star as raving maniac who forces a soon-to-be father (Joel Kinnaman, The Suicide Squad) at gunpoint to take him on a drive. It’s clear that for as long as this forced ride goes on, things get worse and worse, and it doesn’t appear that things are going to end very well. The film hits theaters and On Demand outlets on July 28, 2023, and you can check out the new trailer below.

In the film, Kinnaman plays David, a soon-to-be father on his way to the hospital with his wife in labor. Unfortunately, a mysterious man played by Cage forces his way in, and holding David at gunpoint, he orders him to start driving. Their trip includes a stop at a small-town diner where the mysterious individual, who seems like he very well could be the devil himself, forces David to play a high-stakes game. David must answer questions correctly, otherwise, his captor will execute everyone in the diner.

“Fans can expect an adrenaline rush watching these two powerhouse talents go toe-to-toe,” producer Allan Unger previously said of the film’s lead stars. “Cage is at the top of his game and we can’t wait for audiences to see.”

The movie was directed by Yuval Adler (Bethlehem, The Operative) and written by Luke Paradise. Cage produced alongside Alex Lebovici (Barbarian), Allan Unger (Bandit), and Stuart Manashil (Pieces of a Woman). Paradise served as an executive producer with Christian Mercuri (Out of the Furnace), David Haring (The Old Way), Marc Goldberg (Final Score), David Sullivan (The Rise of the Krays), Tim Moore (Cry Macho), Jason Soto, Courtney Chen (Come Away), and Waylen Lin (Bill & Ted Face the Music).

Cage recently played another major villain role, as he portrays Count Dracula in the horror-comedy movie Renfield. The versatile actor also recently drew high acclaim for his role in the hit film Pig as well as for playing himself in the outlandish action-comedy movie The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. It was recently revealed that Cage is coming to the video game Dead by Daylight, lending his voice and likeness to the game that will allow gamers to play as the Hollywood star.

As for Kinnaman, the actor appeared in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad to reprise the role he first played in the original Suicide Squad movie from director David Ayer. He more recently has been starring on the Apple TV+ series For All Mankind, which has a fourth season in the works. Kinnaman also appeared in the HBO series In Treatment and was recently cast for a main role in Face/Off helmer John Woo’s upcoming action thriller Silent Night.
