Lamar Jackson suffered yet another postseason exit as the Baltimore Ravens fell to the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round, but those around him believe it’s a matter of when – not if – he’ll hold the Lombardi Trophy.
“It’s inevitable,” fullback Patrick Ricard told ESPN’s Jamison Hensley on Monday. “He’s going to win a Super Bowl, and I want to be a part of it. It just sucks that it hasn’t happened yet.”
Jackson has been subject to criticism for his postseason play over his career. He engineered what would have been a game-tying drive in Sunday’s 27-25 loss had tight end Mark Andrews not dropped the pass on the two-point conversion, but he was responsible for two turnovers during the game, throwing an interception and losing a fumble.
The 28-year-old was critical of his own mistakes postgame and told reporters “I’m tired of this shit.”
Jackson has accumulated 13 total touchdowns and 11 turnovers lost over eight postseason starts. He owns a 3-5 record in those matchups.
Ricard believes there’s “still time” for Jackson to win a Super Bowl.
“He’s still young,” Ricard added. “He’s definitely going to (get) one at some point.”
Jackson is a candidate to be named NFL MVP for the third time in his career after setting new personal bests in passing yards (4,172), touchdown passes (41), and interception rate (0.8%) in 2024.
