Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett suffered a bone bruise in his knee Sunday against the Houston Texans, sources told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.
Pickett is also reportedly dealing with a muscle strain. He may be available for Pittsburgh’s Week 5 game versus the Baltimore Ravens, adds Rapoport, who also notes the Steelers may be cautious with a bye in Week 6.
The 25-year-old went down in the third quarter Sunday and was replaced by Mitchell Trubisky. Trubisky completed three of five passes for 18 yards.
Pickett and the Steelers’ offense struggled before the second-year signal-caller exited the contest. He left the game with 114 yards and an interception on 15 of 23 passing. Pickett was also sacked three times.
The offense’s inefficiency prompted coach Mike Tomlin to say there’d be some changes after the “ugly” performance, but he declined to give specifics.
