Scheffler shot a 2-under 68 in Round 1 before carding a 2-over 72 in Round 2 at The Renaissance Club. He bogeyed two of his first three holes on Friday and failed to turn it around.
“I got off to a poor start and didn’t really hit it close enough to give myself a bunch of looks, and that’s how you shoot over par,” Scheffler said after Friday’s round.
He needed to chip in for a birdie on his final hole to have a chance to make the cut, but he couldn’t get it to fall and ultimately settled for bogey.
Scheffler’s last missed cut came at the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship.
