Scream VI Subway Stop Poster

Scream VI Subway Stop Poster

A new Easter Egg-laden poster for Scream VI has been unveiled, though it gives away several twists from previous installments.

WARNING: The following poster and article spoils the Scream franchise. You have been warned.

A new Scream VI poster has been unveiled, and it’s pretty spoiler-y for anyone who hasn’t been keeping up with the franchise. In honor of the latest installment taking place in New York and referencing the teaser trailer aboard a train, the poster is a map of the New York subway line, only stylized to look just like the Ghostface mask. Each stop on the various line contains a reference to past installments as well.

Though you need to have seen at least one installment to spot the pattern, each of the stops on the subway line is named after the people who died in each installment. For example, if you look closely, you can see that the Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere) stop has been closed. In reference to how the character seemingly met their end during the fourth installment but was revealed to be alive in the fifth. The official poster, released courtesy of the Scream VI Twitter account, can be found below.

Also included on the list of deaths are the names of all the killers. That also reveals another spoiler, as you can see Debbie Loomis on the number two line. The fact that Mrs. Loomis is in the movie at all, let alone one of the killers, is a major plot twist in the second installment. It could also help people to figure out that reporter Debbie Salt (Laurie Metcalf) isn’t who she claims to be.

Other Things to Consider

Paramount Pictures

One of the names on the number four line is Jill Roberts (Emma Roberts), one of the killers in the fourth installment. What’s interesting about that is how in the summer of last year, Roberts said she’d be open to returning. Saying that she felt like she “wasn’t done with Scream.” We only see Jill getting shot in the chest, not the headshot the series typically uses to indicate that a killer’s down for good, so there’s wiggle room if the filmmakers want to bring the character back.

Another notable feature on the poster is the sixth line, which is stated to be under construction. The only line listed on that stop was Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera). Could it be that the sixth installment will kill off the seeming new lead of the franchise? It might depend on whether Jenna Ortega’s available in the future to carry the rest of the franchise. Or the poster could just be trying to drive up the audience’s suspense.

The Sam stop is also right next to the Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) stop, which is an additional Easter Egg. In the previous installment, we discovered that Sam was Billy’s illegitimate daughter. There are multiple scenes in the fifth installment where Sam hallucinates him giving her advice, with Ulrich reprising his role from the original installment.

Scream VI is scheduled to be released on March 10, 2023.
