Cardinals hope to have Murray in early 2023

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is projected to recover from his torn ACL in six to eight months, allowing him to be ready for the start of the 2023 season , sources told ESPN .

This is the most optimistic scenario for Murray , who suffered the injury on the third play of a ” Monday Night Football ” loss to the New England Patriots before being carried off the field in the assist cart and crying in the tunnel at realizing that he had suffered a serious injury.

Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said last week that Murray will likely have surgery sometime after Christmas once the swelling in his knee has subsided.

The injury could have been worse, but doctors believe all the other ligaments in Murray ‘s knee are intact, according to sources.

“There’s a really good chance he’ll be ready for Week 1 of next year,” a source familiar with Murray ‘s injury told ESPN .

The Cardinals are expected to place Murray on the physically unable to play list at the start of training camp next summer, then gradually bring him back as preseason progresses, with the realistic goal of being ready by the start of training camp. the regular season.

“He could coach if he wanted to right now. He’d probably take my job easily. He’s got that kind of knowledge and that kind of control in the locker room.”
