Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler is confident he’ll return to the lineup for Monday Night Football.
The dual-threat back said Tuesday that he’s “99% sure” he’ll play in the team’s Week 6 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, according to NFL Network’s Bridget Condon.
Ekeler hasn’t played since Week 1 due to an ankle injury. The 28-year-old totaled 164 scrimmage yards and one touchdown.
Joshua Kelley has handled the bulk of the snaps in Ekeler’s absence, rushing for 207 yards and a touchdown. Isaiah Spiller and Elijah Dotson have offered relief as backups.
The Chargers are coming off a Week 5 bye. Ekeler was a limited participant in all three practices ahead of Week 4, but he said he was a full participant Tuesday, per Condon. L.A. will release its first official injury report Thursday.
Ekeler led the league in total touchdowns in 2022 (18) and 2021 (20) while racking up over 1,550 yards from scrimmage in both seasons.
The 5-foot-10, 200-pound runner has 7,339 total yards and 64 scores in 90 career games.
