The New York Giants placed quarterback Daniel Jones on injured reserve Monday, shutting him down for the rest of the season because of his ailing neck.
Jones missed the previous three weeks with the injury. The Giants didn’t reveal specifics but said they expect Jones to make a full recovery.
The 24-year-old started the first 11 games of the season, throwing for 2,428 yards with 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The Giants hoped he would breakthrough with an improved cast of receivers, but a myriad of injuries caused his weapons to be in and out of the lineup all year.
The sixth overall pick in 2019, Jones has displayed fairly strong accuracy from the pocket throughout his career. However, turnovers have plagued him in all three seasons.
