Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller turned himself in to the Glenn Heights Police Department on Thursday after an arrest warrant was issued for a charge of assaulting a pregnant person, WFAA’s Rebecca Lopez reports.
Miller was taken to the DeSoto regional jail before posting a $5,000 bond and being released.
Police said officers responded to a “major disturbance” call in uptown Dallas at 11 a.m. local time Wednesday.
The victim was treated for minor injuries at the scene but wasn’t taken to hospital, police said.
Miller grabbed the neck of the alleged victim and applied pressure multiple times during an argument, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by Jamie Landers and Kelli Smith of The Dallas Morning News. Miller also caused her to fall by yanking her hair and pulling a chunk of it out, the affidavit states.
Police said the woman had “minor abrasions” on her left hand and bruising on her abdomen, left bicep, and neck that’s “consistent with applied pressure.”
The alleged victim is Miller’s longtime girlfriend, police sources told Lopez. Assaulting a pregnant person is a third-degree felony charge in Texas.
“This morning, we were made aware of an incident involving Von Miller,” the Bills said in a statement Thursday. “We are in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at this point.”
Miller was the subject of a criminal investigation while playing for the Denver Broncos in 2021, though prosecutors declined to file charges, and authorities didn’t disclose details of the probe.
The Bills are on a bye week, and Miller was born in Dallas.
The 34-year-old is in his second season in Buffalo after previously playing for the Broncos and Los Angeles Rams.
