The NBA suspended Detroit Pistons guard Killian Hayes and Orlando Magic center Moritz Wagner for their roles in an on-court altercation during Wednesday’s contest, the league announced.
Hayes will serve a three-game suspension for punching Wagner in the back of the head, while Wagner will miss two contests for committing an unsportsmanlike act against Hayes that sparked the incident.
Eight other Magic players have also been suspended without pay for leaving the bench during the altercation: Cole Anthony, R.J. Hampton, Gary Harris, Kevon Harris, Admiral Schofield, Franz Wagner, Mo Bamba, and Wendell Carter Jr.
Pistons guard Hamidou Diallo also received a one-game suspension.
Both Hayes and Wagner were assessed Flagrant 2 fouls and ejected for the incident, which occurred with 33.2 seconds remaining in the second quarter of the Pistons’ 121-101 home victory.
Hayes and Diallo will begin to serve their respective bans when the Pistons visit the Chicago Bulls on Friday. Wagner will miss out on Friday’s visit from the Washington Wizards before sitting out next Wednesday’s meeting with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The eight other Magic players to receive punishment will serve the suspensions on a staggered basis. Anthony, Carter, Hampton, Bamba, and Gary Harris will be absent versus the Wizards, while Schofield, Kevon Harris, and Franz Wagner will be ineligible to face the Thunder.
