Patrick Marleau needs 36 more goals to enter the NHL G20

“San Jose Sharks” faced an unexpected defeat in the game against “Ducks” from Anaheim. That was a serious blow to “Sharks” ago, as the Anaheim team ends the Western Conference table with 31 points. Meanwhile, Patrick Marleau got a reason to smile – the striker added one more goal to his collection.

All good things come to an end

“Sharks” won four matches in a row against contestants from Minnesota and Los Angeles. Supporters were sure that matches against “Ducks” would be just a walkover for their favorite players. They even had a chance to bet on NHL games today to make the expectation even more intriguing.

The game scenario turned out to become the opposite of “Sharks” fans’ expectations. The team from San Jose lost all the periods – 0:1, 1:3, 0:1. Meanwhile, there is good news – the only goal was scored by Patrick Marleau, the 41-year-old Canadian striker. He wishes to inscribe his name in the NHL history.

Patrick to hold a course for the NHL G20

Patrick Marleau is the second greatest playing striker in NHL history. The Canadian goal scorer with his 565 goals places right above the Russian superstar Alexander Ovechkin, the 6th greatest scorer in NHL history.

When you are 41, that is a challenging task to score goals, and Patrick uses every opportunity. Marleau scored the 3rd goal in the current season, while his overall result impresses. The “San Jose” striker was on the same layer as Mats Sundin and Joseph Nieuwendyk, having 524 goals on the “account.” The last game refilled his score, enabling Patrick to reach the 23rd place. The next target – the legendary Canadian striker Michael Bossy with 573 goals.

As for the number of games, Patrick is ready to beat the greatest record of Gordon Howe. The Canadian striker played 1767 games in the NHL from 1946 to 1998, while Patrick needs to appear eight more times on a hockey field. Marleau started his NHL career in 1997, while the overall number of games on his account is now 1759. The closest playing opponent is Joseph Thornton from “Toronto Maple Leaves” with 1660 matches.
