Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford agreed to terms on a restructured deal, head coach Sean McVay announced Tuesday.
Terms of the revised agreement were not revealed by the team.
The 36-year-old Stafford will have $31 million of his salary guaranteed this upcoming season, per Over the Cap. The two-time Pro Bowler was seeking more guaranteed money in the final two years of a four-year, $160-million extension signed in March 2022.
McVay credited Stafford’s professionalism during the negotiations, saying that “being able to sit down, look each other in the eye,” is what helped get the deal done, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
The Rams remained confident throughout the offseason that the veteran quarterback would report for training camp after requesting an amended deal this spring. Stafford hasn’t spoken about his contract since the request, and he attended OTA workouts and the team’s mandatory minicamp last month in a show of good faith.
Stafford bounced back from an injury-shortened 2022 campaign to pass for 3,965 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions last season, with a 62.2% completion rate.
The former Super Bowl champion will lead a quarterback room that features Jimmy Garoppolo and Stetson Bennett.
