The Los Angeles Rams have held discussions about trading Jalen Ramsey, and it’s very likely the cornerback will be dealt in the coming weeks, sources told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
A deal would help the Rams clear cap space with Ramsey set to make $17 million in base salary in 2023, Pelissero adds. The Pro Bowler signed a five-year, $100-million deal in 2020 and is under contract for three more seasons, according to Spotrac.
It would be the Rams’ second major move this offseason. The franchise reportedly plans to release veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner, which will clear $5 million in cap space.
Ramsey, who spent the first three-plus years of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, was acquired by the Rams in a 2019 midseason trade. He’s been a cornerstone of their defense, earning four Pro Bowl nods and recording 10 interceptions over 56 starts across his four years with the club.
The 28-year-old matched a personal best with four interceptions last season. He also put up a career-high 18 pass defenses.
Ramsey leads all cornerbacks with six Pro Bowl selections since coming into the league as the No. 5 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
