NBA commissioner Adam Silver is finalizing a contract extension that’s expected to keep him in his current position through the end of the decade, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
With Silver’s new deal reportedly close to the finish line, he’ll be tasked with leading the Association in negotiations for a new media rights deal and potential league expansion.
Silver succeeded the late David Stern in February 2014 after the latter stepped down from his role. The 61-year-old previously served as the league’s deputy commissioner and chief operating officer for eight years.
Silver also had an eight-year term as president and COO of NBA Entertainment.
