Tagovailoa not concerned with Buffalo weather conditions

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa said he’s ready to take on the weather and the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

“I think for me, it’s understanding that there could be many things – could be snowing, it could rain, I don’t know,” Tagovailoa said, according to ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques.

“For me, it’s a mindset thing, really. If I’m too focused on, ‘Is it too cold? Can I grab the ball,’ then I would say I’m focused on the wrong things. It’ll be hard to play that way going (up) there and playing against a good team.”

Tagovailoa isn’t a stranger to the cold, but Sunday’s contest could be his first time playing an NFL game in the snow.

The 24-year-old performed poorly against the Tennessee Titans in cold and wet conditions last season. The less-than-stellar play prompted Tagovailoa and his younger brother Taulia to throw together in Maryland over the offseason with temperatures below freezing and snow on the ground.

“It felt really good throwing it while it was snowing,” he said. “I didn’t feel any effects of throwing in the snow.”

Tagovailoa noted to reporters Wednesday that it snowed during his time playing in college at Alabama. However, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, recorded just seven inches of snowfall in its snowiest year, while 77 inches of snow covered Orchard Park between Nov. 17 and Nov. 19, according to WKBW’s Michael Schwartz.

Tagovailoa will look to rebound against the AFC leading-Bills after a rough game against the Los Angeles Chargers in which he completed 10 of 28 passes for 145 yards and a score.
