The Chicago White Sox lost a franchise-record 15th straight game with an 8-5 defeat to the Kansas City Royals on Monday.
The White Sox had matched their franchise-high losing streak of 14 games, which came between late May and early June of this season, before setting the dubious new mark.
Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. was responsible for extending Chicago’s skid, belting a go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning.
Witt also made a terrific defensive play to record the final out of the game.
Chicago moved to 0-11 since the All-Star break with its most recent defeat. The Colorado Rockies – the second-worst club in baseball by wins and losses – have 11 more victories than the White Sox this season.
The team has been in the majors since 1901.
