During this week’s Valentine’s Day episode, audiences will finally meet Janine’s sister.

FX

The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri will appear as Janine’s sister Ayesha on Abbott Elementary. Throughout the series, Janine, portrayed by Abbott Elementary creator Quinta Brunson, has spoken about her less than ideal relationship with her sibling, while noting difficulties in having her return to Philly for familial visits. This Wednesday, viewers will finally see the two sisters interact during the series’ Valentine’s Day episode. According to EW, Edebiri’s presence on the holiday episode will be brief, but she will return on a grander scale during the ongoing second season.

The official episode description for the Valentine’s Day episode reads: “The Abbott teachers discuss their relationships and plans for Valentine’s Day; Janine finds out one of her students has a crush on her; Ava sits in on Jacob’s Black History class after receiving a complaint.”

The beloved series, which follows the triumphs and frustrations of a group of Philadelphia public school teachers and staff, was renewed for a third season last month. The Emmy Award-winning series has been praised for its realistic portrayal of public education. Along with Brunson, the series also stars Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddie; Janelle James as Principal Ava Coleman; Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Schemmenti, Chris Perfetti as Jacob Hill; Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard; and William Stanford Davis as school janitor Mr. Johnson.

Abbott Elementary is executive produced by Brunson, Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker of Delicious Non-Sequitur Productions, and Randall Einhorn. It airs Wednesdays on ABC.
