Kathryn Hahn, star of the upcoming MCU series Agatha All Along, recently expressed her excitement about the project, particularly praising the series for its emotional and comedic richness, at the 2024 Disney Upfront. The spinoff series is scheduled for a September release, where it will pick up the thread from the 2021 series WandaVision.
Speaking with Deadline, Hahn described the sense of camaraderie and magic that permeates the show. She pointed out the connection she felt working with the cast daily, which, according to her, enhances the series’ overall impact.
We can say that the coven is strong. We can say that it is hilarious, and deep. And I was moved to work with all these people every day. It was a gratuitous dream that it happened to be this group to go through that together.
One of the most striking aspects of Agatha All Along that Hahn highlighted is its reliance on practical effects over computer-generated imagery. The decision to minimize CGI usage was a creative choice led by Jac Schaeffer, the writer of both WandaVision and this new spinoff, and producer Mary Livanos. This approach, Hahn noted, allows for a more tangible and immersive experience.
There is very little that is not practical magic, which is our magic. That was very thrilling. [The] sets were incredible and it was like a practical… it just felt delicious. It was a very immersive experience.
Further adding to the show’s visual and emotional appeal is the set design for Witches’ Road, a key location within the series. LuPone described her awe upon first encountering the set, a sentiment shared by the cast, leading to a spontaneous moment. “The production design and the set dressers, and the lighting, and the costumes, everything about it, it appeared to all of us when we saw it, that everybody on the creative end were at the top of their game,” said LuPone.
“How absolutely beautiful…we burst into tears when we got on the set, and we saw the actual Witches’ Road. It’s gorgeous to look at on top of being a fantastic story. It looks like a $100 million movie.”

Marvel Studios had toyed with several titles such as Coven of Chaos and Darkhold Diaries, even engaging in a bit of playful deception with a troll title just a day before settling on Agatha All Along. This clever marketing maneuver hints at the creative twists fans can expect from the series.
Agatha All Along will consist of nine episodes. The series wrapped up filming in January with a quick round of reshoots in February. Originally slated for a 2023 release, the show faced several delays but is now confirmed to premiere in 2024.
